Tallahassee, FL (WTXL)-- More than 300 fans showed up to Alumni Hall for a summer block party with the Florida State women's basketball team.  At the Florida State memorabilia store they had games, food and autographs for any fans that stopped by on Saturday morning.

"We really believe the next step for our program is in the stands,"  Florida State women's coach Sue Semrau said. "We want to to get out and share what's going on in the program with the community, but we want to share with players what's going on in the community. This was a great event to be able to come out and come together."

"I just think it's something that you have to be wiling to do."  FSU guard Imani Wright said. "We just want to show everybody how hard we've been working and how hard we are going to work during the preseason so is an opportunity just to get them out there and fill the stands."

Semrau says the goal is to have crowds with 7,000 or more fans in attendance. The Florida State nonconference schedule in 2016-2017 features games against Connecticut, Texas, and Florida at the Tucker Center.
