TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Top-ranked Florida State is going back to basics during its first practices in preparation for the BCS championship game against Auburn after taking last week off.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said Wednesday the Seminoles were eager to get back to football after a week of winning awards, trips, exams and an appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman" for Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston.

Florida State has five practices scheduled this week before taking three days off for a holiday break.

The immediate focus is on fundamentals with little specific preparation work for second-ranked Auburn. The Seminoles return for five more sessions on Dec. 26 before leaving for California on Dec. 31. Fisher has the final five practices scheduled for the first week of January leading up to the title game.
