CAMILLA, Ga. (WTXL) - Signing day 2016 is officially over, but that doesn't mean athletes across North Florida and South Georgia won't be busy putting pen to paper over the coming months. In fact, the first post-signing day signing happened Thursday morning at Mitchell County High School.
Senior Quintin Sanders made things official with Savannah State on Thursday, an FCS program that plays in the MEAC. Sanders considered offers from Tulane and Louisiana-Lafayette, but settled on the rising Tigers, and is excited to suit up for them come fall.
Sanders lined up on both sides of the ball as an Eagle, but said he will focus on defense at Savannah State, and added he's excited to start the next chapter of his career.
"I know that they're short on people, so I think that I can come to Savannah State and turn it all around," he said. "I'm really excited, but it doesn't look like it because I'm very humble. I humble myself to a 'T'. It's very exciting, I might cry when I get home.
Sanders said he plans on studying criminal justice.
