TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Wednesday marked the first day of the early signing period, and several athletes across North Florida and South Georgia made those early decisions and are set to sign over the next week.
At Maclay, volleyball standout Jewel Strawberry has been committed to Boston College for a year and a half, and on Wednesday, she honored that commitment by signing on the today line.
Strawberry finished her five year varsity career with over 1500 kills and 1400 digs. She said a big reason why she chose Boston College was because of the academics, and the good volleyball was just an added bonus.
"Just finally being able to make it official after being committed for a year and a half has been good to make it official and officially be an Eagle," she said, adding that while she's excited, she's going to miss being a Marauder. "Just whenever you're down, someone's there to pick you up here at Maclay and I love being able to be a part of that, so the ending of that is something very emotional and close to my heart, but I will always have love for this school."
Strawberry added she doesn't have a major yet, but has applied to the school of management.
