TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - High school volleyball teams are well in to the postseason. Most classifications are just two wins away from earning a berth in their respective classifications State Championship game.
The Maclay Marauders are in the hunt in Class 3A, and face a very good PK Yonge squad out of Gainesville in Tuesday night's Region 1 Final.
PK Yonge was number one in the country for a point this season, but the Marauders aren't the least bit intimidated.
"They're actually pumped and more focused then I've ever seen," said head coach Erica Bunch. "We've had a lot of growing up we've had to do in a short period of time, so I think that they've embraced that and winning those two, Providence was ranked #6 in the state, we took them out in four, St. Johns was ranked #10 in the state, I think that's put a lot of notches under their belt and knowing that they can do it."
Maclay and PK Yonge play at 7:00 Tuesday night. Leon is on the road at Creekside in Class 7A, while Sneads and Lafayette take the court Saturday in their respective Class 1A State Semifinal match-ups.
