TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Maclay baseball team fell short in their quest for a repeat trip to the State Final Four when they fell to University Christian on Tuesday night.
For Lucas Briggs, the loss marked the end of his high school career, but he still has a lot of ball left to be played. Briggs signed with Oglethorpe University on Wednesday, a Division III program that competes in the Southern Athletic Association.
Briggs didn't sign just one scholarship, however. The two sport standout will play both soccer and baseball for Oglethorpe, and to be able to pursue both sports at the next level? Unexpected, but he said it's exactly what he wanted.
"About two months ago, this is not at all the ending I would have expected," he laughed. "I'm super glad and I love both sports, so this is the best option to keep both options open. It's incredibly exciting. I'm so glad to get the process of finding a college that I love over with, and I'm super excited for what the future holds."
Briggs said he's still undecided for a major.
