TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Tuesday night was a huge night for high school softball teams in the state of Florida. Classes 5A-9A hit the field for Sweet Sixteen play, while Classes 1A-4A played in Regional Final games.
In Class 3A, the Maclay Marauders hosted North Florida Christian in a rematch of the District Championship game. The Marauders took the early lead, and never looked back, winning 6-4, and are headed to their first Final Four since 1995.
"Last three years we've just been putting in the work, been building," said head coach Tera Gainer. "As a coach you see the potential and it's just so rewarding to see that it's all paying off. I'm so excited!"
In Class 5A, Suwannee's season ended with a 12-3 loss to Baker County. The Florida High Seminoles faced Trinity Christian in Class 4A, and fell 7-6 after the Crusaders hit a walk-off home run.
In Class 2A, Aucilla Christian is headed back to the Final Four as they look for their third straight State Championship. The Warriors beat Eagle's View 16-2.
In Class 1A, Franklin County's seasons ends 5-4 to Chipley, while Lafayette fell 7-1 to Union County.
High School baseball teams kicked off Regional play on Tuesday night. The Lincoln Trojans hosted Oakleaf in the Class 8A Regional Quarterfinals, and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.
Behind Austin Pollock's complete game, six strikeout performance, the Trojans won 6-0. They will face Fletcher in the 8A Regional Semifinals, who beat Chiles 8-4.
In Class 6A, Wakulla fell to Gulf Breeze 3-0.
The Godby Cougars, attempted a strong comeback against Bay High School, but fell short, 6-5.
