Maclay Readies For Another Deep Postseason Run

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - On Thursday night, high school volleyball teams in Classes 1A-4A take the court for Regional Semifinal play in Florida. The Maclay Marauders are a season removed from a Final Four appearance, and this year, this group is ready to finish things.

The Marauders won the District 1 title last week, earning them home court advantage for the postseason, and on Thursday, they welcome in Trinity Christian for round one.

Head coach Erica Bunch notes this team is excited, and the five seniors want to end their season this year with a win. Even with the added pressure, coach thinks they are ready for the task ahead.

"There's still going to be nerves no matter what. I mean, they're kids at the end of the day, but I think we've prepared well enough and as long as they play as a team together and not as individuals, I think we should do well," she said. "No one wants to lose at this point. If you lose, you go home. Your season's done. When they walk out on the court, everybody gives everything they can because they don't want it to be their last one. You can't take anybody for granted."

Thursday's match kicks off at 6:00 at Maclay.
