TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - High school boys soccer teams in the state of Florida kick off Regional Quarterfinal play on Thursday night, and five Big Bend teams are still alive.
As District Champions, both Maclay and Wakulla have the opportunity to play at home. The Maclay Marauders host Christ's Church in their 1A Regional Quarterfinal contest, a program Maclay head coach Andy Warner said is well organized.
Maclay won the 1A-1 title last week in a shut-out victory over West Gadsden, and Warner said that momentum heading into the playoffs is a good thing for his team.
"As a coach we always talk about peaking and peaking at the right time," he said at practice on Wednesday. "We have been very focused on developing a schedule that is not too tough leading in to postseason. In previous years, we've picked up injuries in the last week, and we didn't do that this year. We're very, very healthy, and we're having a good run, so we're excited."
Maclay's match-up with Christ's Church kicks off at 7:00. Along with the Marauders and Wakulla, Lincoln, Florida High, and West Gadsden all suit up tomorrow for Quarterfinal play.
