FORT MYERS, Fla. (WTXL) - On Thursday night, the Lafayette Hornets won their first ever State Championship in baseball. On Friday, the Maclay Marauders took the field in the Final Four for the first time since 1993, when they won it all. To get to this year's title game, Maclay would have to get by Canterbury in the 3A State Semifinals.
The Cougars of Canterbury took the early lead, but Maclay tied things up in the bottom of the first off the Max McKinley RBI single to center. The game would remain tied until the top of the 11th inning, when Tyler Shuck blasted one to right center field, which drove in a run for the Cougars.
That RBI ended up the game winner, as Canterbury held off Maclay in the bottom frame to win 2-1.
