TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Maclay Marauder baseball team continues their journey to a State Championship on Friday, when they face Canterbury in the Class 3A State Semifinals.

On Thursday, the Marauders loaded up a bus and hit the road to the cheers of friends and family. Their opponent in their Final Four showdown is 29-1 on the year, and boasts a roster filled with a half dozen Division I commitments.

Head coach Drew Sherrod knows the Marauders will have to play flawless baseball to come out on top, but to have the opportunity to still be playing this time of year is priceless.

"That's what you dream about when you're in little league, is the opportunity to go and win a State Championship in high school," he said on Thursday. "I'm just really happy for these kids and it would mean a lot for the guys and for the community, especially for this school. I think it's been a long time since we've been in this position and we're just happy to be here."

The last time Maclay won a State Championship in baseball was 1993, which is also the last time they qualified for the Final Four.
