Longtime Valdosta High Head Baseball Coach Resigns

Longtime Valdosta High Head Baseball Coach Resigns

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta High School baseball team made it to the second round of the postseason in AAAAAA this season. They had a stud pitcher, DL Hall, who was drafted 21st overall in this year's Major League Baseball Draft.

The Cats lose Hall off that team, and they're also losing longtime head coach Bart Shuman, who after two decades with the program is stepping down.

All but one of those seasons was spent as head coach, leading Valdosta to three Region titles and two State Semifinal appearances.

Baseball is in his blood, and while he's done at Valdosta, it doesn't sound like he's done with the diamond just yet.

"I'm going to think about it, I'm going to talk it over with my family and all see how things go," he said. "I've got some things in line. Right now, I'm just going to catch my breath a little bit and clean out my attic and garage and do some honey dos for my wife and see what happens."

The Cats already have their replacement for Shuman. Tiftarea's Brad Porter will take over the reins of the Wildcat program.
