Posted
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Monday, Lincoln High School principal Dr. Allen Burch released a statement announcing the resignation of longtime head football coach Yusuf Shakir. It reads:

"Coach Shakir and I came to Lincoln together eight years ago and over the years have formed a great relationship. I appreciate his hard work for our football program, student athletes, and Lincoln community. Recently we have spoken about his professional opportunities outside of Lincoln. Today, Coach Shakir resigned to pursue those opportunities. I support him in doing this and we wish him nothing but success in his endeavors. We are now focused on continuing the wonderful tradition of Lincoln Football, which begins with locating a head coach and preparing for the upcoming season."

Shakir was hired in 2009, winning a State Championship with the Trojans in 2010, and finishing State Runner-up in 2012. Attempts to reach Coach Shakir have gone unanswered.
