TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Was Jimbo Fisher in talks to become the next LSU head coach? According to a report from a Baton Rouge newspaper his representatives were in negotiations before LSU athletic director Joe Alleva announced that Les Miles would be staying.
For weeks Miles was sidestepping questions about his future, saying that he considers talk about his job security "off limits". There were moves to get rid of Miles as head coach after he went on a 3 game losing streak.
"Ultimately, the overwhelming monetary figure to secure both deals concerned the school’s president and others at a time when the state and school are experiencing budget struggles" reported the newspaper.
Several times last week Fisher declined to comment about the LSU situation. However, in a radio interview, Fisher told Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi that he would be staying with Florida State.
