TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Thursday was a huge day for eleven student athletes at Lincoln High School.
All eleven chose to continue their careers at the next level, and for one, Alexander Sobeski, it's been years and years of hard work to celebrate. Sobeski is headed to West Point to play football.
It's not easy to get into West Point. According to the school, a recent class admission rate was just 11%. Sobeski admitted he is still a little speechless, but he is excited for the honor.
"I have an uncle who graduated from West Point a long time ago, and I have a cousin who's there now," he said. "Just being around on the campus and seeing what it looks like, what it's like to be a cadet there, I knew right then that's what I wanted to do. When I finally got accepted into the school, it was such a relief because the process has been going on since my freshman year, and I'm so excited to do this."
Sobeski said he isn't sure what position he will play at West Point, he said he just wants to get on the field.
