TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - In order for big plays to happen, it all starts in the trenches.
"It's contact every play, it's mauling the man in front of you," said senior Evan Quigley of his love for the position. "It's protecting the quarterback, the running back, anyone who gets the ball to help your team score."
Quigley is a three year starter on the Trojan's offensive line, he's also a captain helping to lead the way.
"The offensive line and defensive line, are so important to the game of football," said head coach Quinn Gray. "To have a guy like that with the brains that he has and the experience that he has, it's paramount for us."
"It's the last go round, I'm just trying to do what I can to help the team," added Quigley. "I really learned what it was to be a Lincoln Trojan. I learned a lot of good football skills, a lot of good life skills, I'm proud to be a Lincoln Trojan."
He's also looking to leave this community proud. It's Orlando or bust for the Trojans.
"The whole senior class, we made sure everybody had the same mentality," he said of their goal of winning a state title. "We're coming to this season to win, we're coming to this season to play our best football so we all know what it's about."
Quigley also knows it's more than just about football, as he carries a 4.4 GPA in the classroom.
"For him, he set himself up for his future in terms of college," said Gray. "Evan is a guy that he takes pride in his academics, just as much as he takes on the field."
"I just try to lead by example. Coach preaches go hard in the classroom, go hard on the field," added Quigley. "I just listen to coach. I lead for my brothers."
Leading in the classroom and on the offensive line to make sure those big plays get this team, where they want to be.
