MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Lincoln High Trojans hosted the FHSAA 3A District 3 cross country meet early Saturday morning at Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park. The top four teams would move on to Regionals in Gainesville next Saturday.
For the boys, it was Leon's Matthew Cashin who walked away first overall, and for the girls it was Lincoln's Allison Churchill.
But overall, the wolves from Chiles took first in the team competition for both the boys and girls finishing with 40 and 31 respectively.
"I thought our guys team broke up a little more than I would have liked, we're trying to get them to run as a pack most of the way," said head coach Mike Phillips. "But the front runners did what they had to do, and the girls race, they ran together really well, we were trying to run a really fast second mile and do what we had to do to hang on and win the meet, but for the most part, I thought that they did pretty well and tried to stay in the pack the best they could."
Within the boys, Leon came home second, Lincoln third and within girls, Lincoln qualified second and the Lions walked away third.
Next weekend's regionals will take place at Santa Fe College.
