TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The first day of fall practice is July 31st for Florida High School football players. They're a month out, but that doesn't mean these guys aren't hard at work already. In fact, if you ask any high school coach, this time of year may be the most important.

Lincoln High first year head coach Quinn Gray has seen quite the turnout for summer conditioning, as over 120 kids have consistently been coming out and working hard.

Since they got out of school, the Trojans have been lifting weights, running, and working on agility drills. The regular season is a grind, and being successful this fall all hinges on their efforts right now.

"In order to make it through a ten game season, hopefully a 15, 16 game season, your body has to be able to withstand some beating," said Gray. "With that, this time of the year is a time where you put your body through so much so you can withstand that beating that your body is going to go through. The guys understand the grind and they understand that you can't cheat it."

Lincoln opens the regular season on August 25th against Niceville.
