TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Out of everything the Lincoln High School athletic program has accomplished, the Trojan boys basketball team has never won a State Championship, let alone, been to the Final Four.

On Friday, the boys looked to change that, as they hosted Creekside in the Class 7A Region 1 Championship game. The Knights of Creekside tied things up with 2:30 to play off a Chris Richardson three pointer, but Lorenze Cloud put the Trojans up 55-54, and they didn't look back.

Kyle Kincey sank a pair of late free throws to seal up the 57-54 win, and the Trojans are Lakeland bound for the first time in school history.

"It goes back to the support and the staff here at Lincoln High School," said head coach Dimitric Salters as to the reason behind their success. "The guys just bought in to what we implemented and the trusted in each other and they loved each other actually. This is what you get when you dedicate yourself and focus your efforts on being a team."

Godby High School also played on Friday, and looked to seal up a spot in the 5A State Finals on the road at Bishop Kenny. The Cougars led late, but Bishop Kenny came back to pull off the 54-51 win over Godby, ending their season.
