TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Chiles Timberwolves have had a record setting season this year on the football field. For the first time in school history, they beat Lincoln. On Thursday night, a win over Leon would give them seven wins, the most in school history. It would also give them their first District Championship and their first ever berth in the postseason.
Chiles took a 14-6 lead over Leon on a Landon Simpkins to John Mitchell touchdown pass, but Leon pulled within two on the next drive. Leon had the ball with thirty seconds left, scoring on a 4th and 16 situation to take the 22-21 lead. Chiles then turned the ball over on a fumble to seal things up for the Leon.
With the Lions win, there is a three way tie in 7A-1. Lincoln and Leon will play one 12-minute quarter Monday night at Chiles. The winner plays the Timberwolves, and the winner of that quarter is the District Champion.
