TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon High School girls soccer team won their second straight District Championship this season before being knocked out in the Regional Semifinals. The Lions return all but two seniors from that team, and on Monday, one of those seniors signed to play soccer at the next level.
The Lions will be without the talents of Talise Jager-Sumner next season, as she is headed west to Soka University of America in California to play in college. Soka competes NAIA, and Jager-Sumner said she chose Soka because of the curriculum, and the fact that she gets to continue her soccer career, that's pretty nice too.
"It's incredible. I really am just so excited," she said Monday. "I'm just so excited about all of this. I can't believe it's really happening. I knew I wasn't ready to stop playing soccer after high school so, I'm really excited to have this opportunity to go to such a great University and continue playing soccer."
Jager-Sumner will get a liberal arts degree, and would like to join the Peace Corps upon graduating.
