TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Wednesday was an exciting day in Leon County, as Leon High Schools James Peterson inked with Southeastern University, where he'll continue his football career.
Peterson, who was a two way player for the Lions, had over 850 yards rushing over two seasons, and on defense, he recorded close to fifth tackles and two picks.
The decision to play for the Fire, a longtime coming for Peterson, who was excited to make things official.
"I always wanted to have a signing day of my own," he said Wednesday. "Just seeing past teammates and everyone sign it's just a feeling I wanted to have. I was even doubting the fact that I'd even be able to sign because I didn't sign on February 1st like the rest of my teammates. Just keeping God first just gave me the faith. I always knew something would come out of the hard work I put in."
Peterson added he plans to study nursing in college.
