TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- In May, rising sophomore football player John Franklin III announced via social media that he was leaving Florida State. On Wednesday, the dual threat quarterback announced via social media that he has a new home.

Franklin took to Twitter Wednesday afternoon to announce his new school, saying quote "I have signed with the #1 JUCO and back to back National Champion East Mississippi Lions." He went on to add that he will be at EMCC until the end of December for one semester.

Franklin played in just two games this year as a redshirt freshman, but was expected to compete for playing time come fall.

However, the transfer of Everett Golson from Notre Dame could have challenged that. Franklin will be under the instruction of another former Nole at EMCC, as Clint Trickett recently signed on as quarterbacks coach.

Out of high school, Franklin entertained offers from Tennessee, Navy and FIU before deciding to become a Nole.
