TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - In April, legendary Leon football coach Jim Sauls passed away due to complications from asthma. The coach impacted thousands of youth in his decades long career, and now, the Sauls family is giving back to the Leon County community.

The first "Jim's Ride To Breathe" will take place in November, a cycling event to raise money for Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Respiratory Care Services.

The event took life soon after Sauls' passing. He became fond of cycling in his retirement, and to honor Coach and raise money fora  good cause was an easy decision for his friends and family.

"He was not a me first kind of guy, so he'd be a little uncomfortable, having his name on an event like this," laughed Sauls' son Jimmy. "I know he'd be super proud and super excited for what we're doing and the money we're raising, and the connection having it here at Leon High School, I know he's up there smiling."

The event is November the 5th, and for more information and to register, click here.
