MONTICELLO, Fl. (WTXL) - High school football coaches are always looking for the best way to enrich their athletes. Tuesday at Jefferson County, not only the Tiger football team, but students at Jefferson County Middle/High heard various speakers at the school's annual career expo.
The goal? To change these kid's mindset, to tell them "you can make it out," and "you can do great things," and the work to get there, starts in the classroom.
"We want to let the kids know there are several opportunities out there of they do what they're supposed to do," said head football coach Leroy Smith. "It's never too late for a dream if you're willing to work. You can't expect anyone to give it to you without putting forth your best effort. Like I said, you have to attack the mindset of the kids today."
