It's Double Trouble At FAMU DRS As The Baby Lady Rattlers Look For A State Title

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida A&M girls basketball team is well on their way to winning their second straight State Championship. They take the floor for Regional Semifinal action on Tuesday, and a win means they're a win away from taking that trip to Lakeland.

They're a team of just eight girls, and it's the double trouble of their two youngest players that's proving to be the difference maker.

"Really, I try to call Erin Erin, and Erica twin," laughed senior Jazmine Jones.

"They're just like little sisters to me," pitched in senior Ambriel Scott. "They're little sisters of the team. They're the babies!"

Erin and Erica Turral are babies compared to the normal high school varsity player. They're seventh graders, just 12 years old, but Erin and Erica play big. Twin one, Erin's older by a minute, dropped 37 in Thursday's quarterfinal game, while Erica had eight assists.

"We're sometimes nicknamed double trouble, because on defense, it's hard for them to get past us," said Erin.

"When the person's dribbling, I turn them and she comes around and traps, and they don't even know that we're there," said Erica.

Double trouble on the court, but it's nothing but love for their teammates, six Baby Lady Rattler older sisters.

"They don't really see the twins that much during the day because we have three separate buildings, elementary, middle, and high, but when they do, they're hitting on them, or playing with them," said head coach Ericka Cromartie.

"Lakrista, she helps with my confidence," said Ericka. "Jaz, she tells me to shoot."

"Jaz, she teaches me leadership," said Erin. "Six teaches me how to keep my composure and everything, keep going."

"The twins are really going to run Tallahassee the next couple years," said Jazmine. "By the time they get to be seniors, it's just going to be pure dominance!"

But dominance as seventh graders all the way to a State Championship? Double yes, for double trouble.
