FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) - The Atlanta Falcons have placed linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on injured reserve-designated to return, meaning he will be out a minimum of eight weeks.
The announcement Tuesday comes one day after the Falcons placed two other starters, defensive end Kroy Biermann and fullback Bradie Ewing, on injured reserve with season-ending injuries from a win over St. Louis.
Weatherspoon sustained a foot injury in Sunday's game and didn't return. While the team didn't specify the specifics of his injury, it was clearly serious with the Falcons opting to use a special one-time-only provision of injured reserve, which allows the linebacker o return to practice in six weeks and rejoin the roster in Week 11.
