TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Florida High Seminoles are one of seven high school football teams in the South Georgia and North Florida still in the hunt for a State Championship.

The Noles are two wins away from hoisting a trophy, and game number one comes Friday night against Oxbridge Academy. While head coach Jarrod Hickman notes that the Thunderwolves have talented kids, Florida High is playing their best football right now.

A tough schedule has helped them peak at the right time, but really helping? #32, Cam Brown. Brown, a former member of the Florida High football team, passed away two weeks ago from cancer, and playing for him has been a theme for this team all season long.

"Cam was an assistant coach on this team for us early in the year and traveled with us to Orlando and to Blountstown," said Hickman. "Our kids have had that sense of urgency all year long and it's been a little bit of an up and down year, they've understand what he's represented."

Hickman added the last couple of weeks have been emotional for the Seminoles, and the kids want to make sure they honor him in everything thing they do.

"The way they practice, the way they play, the way they go to class," he said. "They've done a tremendous job of that and there's no doubt he's with us everywhere we go."

Hickman said Brown's #32 jersey is ready to make the trip on Friday. The Noles game with Oxbridge kicks off at 7:30 in West Palm Beach.
