TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Lincoln Trojan volleyball team hasn't won a District Championship since 2002. On Tuesday, the first leg of that journey began, as they faced Chiles in the Semifinals of the 8A District 2 Tournament.
Chiles jumped out to an early first set lead, but Lincoln rallied back, winning 25-21. Lincoln took the next two sets to win in straight sets. They will face Leon on Thursday for the District Championship.
In Class 6A, host team Suwannee defeated Rickards, while Wakulla handled Godby. Suwannee will face Wakulla Wednesday at 6:00 for the District 2 title.
The Florida High Seminoles took the 5A District 2 title, securing home court advantage for at least the first round of Regional play.
In Class 3A, St. John Paul II hosted District 1 Semifinal action Tuesday night. North Florida Christian dropped the first two sets to Rocky Bayou, only to rally back to force a fifth set, where they lost 16-14. Rocky Bayou will face St. JPII Thursday for the District Championship.
In Class 2A District 1, the Munroe Bobcats fell to Community Christian in four sets.
In Class 1A District 5, Lafayette defeated Madison County, and will face Bell Thursday for the title, who defeated Hamilton County.
