WTXL — Saturday was a busy day for a few of our Southern Georgia high schools competing in volleyball and softball state playoff sweet sixteen action.
Thomasville volleyball took the court at home against Toombs County and played a nail-biting five set match with the Bulldogs from Lyons, GA. In the end it was Toombs County who came away with the win advancing to the A/AA state playoff's elite eight.
Lowndes Vollyeball didn't fare much better on the road against a very talented Walton team. The Raiders took care of business and swept the Vikettes in three sets to advance to the AAAAAAA state playoff's elite eight.
However the Vikette softball team picked up a big win on the diamond over North Paulding in the "if" game on Saturday in a close 4-3 contest. Lowndes will advance to the AAAAAAA state playoffs elite eight.
