TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Many high school students play sports just for fun, like North Florida Christian's Brandon Moore, who picked up tennis on a whim in his senior year. His only regret is that he didn't start playing sooner.
"Just the sound of it," said Moore. "The perfect forehand or backhand."
For Moore, the sound of a ball hitting a racket isn't a familiar one.
"I definitely wanted to try and learn and know the game a little bit more," Moore said.
The Eagle senior picked up the game in his final year of high school and it became a family affair.
"I taught my dad and my stepdad how to play," said Moore. "It's definitely been fun and something to do during quarantine."
It's a positive side effect to something that ruined Moore's first and only season as an Eagle tennis player.
"I wish I could be out there even more since I've improved," Moore said.
This experience has changed the way he looks at life.
"I definitely want to take the time to spend time with friends and family and bond with them," said Moore. "You never know. Things could happen in a matter of seconds."
He may have lost his senior year, but Moore says he wouldn't change a thing.
"Make all the memories you can make.," said Moore. "That's the best thing I can say. Just all the memories I've had with my friends I'll never forget."
It's year he won't forget, just like the sound of a perfect backhand.
Moore was a part of NFC's State Championship football team in 2018. He said he's attending TCC in the fall and wants to major in sports management.
