TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Florida High School Athletic Association hosts the State track meet this weekend, and the Big Bend will be represented well. Rickards senior Jabari Bryant had quite the run at Regionals for Class 2A over the weekend, running a 36.81 in the 300 meter hurdles. It was a time good not just for the Region title, but good for the fastest time in the country this spring.

Bryant admitted he knew he ran fast, but didn't realize how fast until the announcement of the record came over the loudspeaker at the meet.

"I feel as if Tallahassee, even North Florida is underestimated," he said. "Being compared to people down south, for me to top the charts and now put people on notice to what we have up here, it's a blessing right now."

"When it comes to pushing each other, pushing Jabari pushing all his teammates, that's something we do every day," added head coach Johnathan Butler. "We make sure we have a very competitive culture every day in practice, so we make the hardest competition we see at practice, not at the meet."

Bryant will run in the Prelims Friday. The Finals are on Saturday.
