LAKELAND, Fl. (WTXL) — The Rickards boys basketball team has punched their way to the 5A state title game. The raiders defeated Sebring Thursday afternoon 59-44.
"We fell short three years in a row," said Ke'Varius Taylor. "It would mean a lot to Tallahassee to bring the championship, because it's been a while since we've won the championship. And it would mean a lot so we'd be real happy."
Zackary White led the raiders with 20 points.
Myles Smith added, "We're the last team standing for North Florida. We just have to go out with a bang. Last year, we lost, lost in the elite 8, and the year before that lost in the state championship. So, we've just got to bring back home the ring."
Rickards will face Pembroke Pines Charter on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
