QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) — Several Big Bend area high school football teams look to punch their ticket to the postseason by winning their play-in games this Friday night.

Munroe is heading into Friday, undefeated, confident, and collected.

"Everybody's pretty jacked up," said Alex Lehky, the head football coach at Munroe. "Everybody's energy on campus has been amazing."

That's what happens when you cap off the first undefeated season in school history.

"That wasn't even our goal to become 8-0," said Damani Frazier, a Munroe senior. "That was something we did. We have bigger goals we're willing to accomplish."

Like winning a State Championship, Munroe may be doing something no other Bobcat team has done, but they're not satisfied.

"We're trying to go through the Region, go straight to State, and continue to be undefeated," said DeVonte Wilson, a senior at Munroe.

"Our seniors made our goals, and going undefeated was not one of them," Lehky said. "Everything they're focused on is in the postseason. I think we showed we can play with a lot of people."

They have big goals, but this team, cool, calm, and collected as they chase them.

"We live for moments like this," Frazier said. "I've been doing this since I was little. I'm excited, but I'm just focused."

"It's all about heart," said Wilson. "Heart, dedication, and we work harder than the opposite team; then, the win will come out on our hands."

They're seeing the reward for all their hard work.

"It's been a real testament to these kids' work ethic, focus, and attention to detail," Lehky said. "Our coaching staff has done a great job all year."

Munroe takes on traditional power University Christian Friday, a team Lehky says they match up well with. That game is at UC on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
