MADISON, Fla. (WTXL) — High school boys basketball teams in Florida are either one win or two wins away from reaching the state final four, depending on your classification. Madison County, which plays in Class 1A, is one win away.

The Cowboys won a state championship in 2019. Last season, they lost in the regional finals. That's where the Cowboys are this year, and they've used last year's loss as motivation to get here. The 'Boy's face Trenton on the road Tuesday night, and the winner. punches their ticket to Lakeland.

"We've been waiting for this ever since last year when we got put out at this time," said senior Zarrion Robinson. "I think it'll make us even more hungrier to get to Lakeland."

"We talk about it all year," added head coach Allen Demps. "Our goal in the beginning of the year is to get to Lakeland. Anything short of that is a disappointment. We've been here. It's another stepping stone. We're going to prepare like we always do and try to get down there and do our best."

"I'm excited. Knowing that I couldn't win for football, I'm like, I gotta leave with a bang my senior year," said Zachariah Jones. "I have to get the W in Lakeland."

Tuesday's match-up tips at 7:00 p.m. at Trenton.
