LOWDNES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Lowndes High School head football coach Jamey DuBose and his wife Tracey have tested positive for coronavirus.

They shared the following statement on Facebook:

"My wife and I tested positive for Covid on Wednesday. After consulting with the doctor, we thought my treatment could best be administered through the doctors and nurses at the hospital. My symptoms have already improved. I am confident that I will continue to improve and be released soon. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from everyone. Please accept our apologies if we can’t respond to all of you right now. Please know that it is appreciated and the prayers are felt. Thank you for your continued prayers as my wife recovers at home and I recover in the hospital. We miss our team/family. We will be back together soon and continue our ride to winning the 7A State Championship!"

The news comes after the Lowndes County School District announced the football program was in quarantine out of an abundance of caution.
