TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — The reactions from student-athletes at Florida High said it all. A brand new weight room for athletes was unveiled Thursday afternoon.

The new weight room is a small piece of a $2 million deal to enhance the school which is also a hurricane shelter.

Doctor Stacy Chambers, the Executive Director of Florida State University Schools explained that there is also new office space and that the cafeteria received much needed updates.

When it comes to hurricanes, people can take shelter at the school. For pets, they will shelter in the new weight room.

"It's a whole lot more spacious. We have the garage door that's electronic, so we can raise it with ease. The temperature in there is stabilized, so you can cut it off when it's open, or cut on when it's closed," explained FSUS Athletic Director, Tyrone McGriff.
