TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Some exciting news out of Florida, the Florida High School Athletic Association ruled that both girls wrestling and sand volleyball will become sanctioned sports in the 2021- 2022 school year.

Girls wrestling will have their own sanctioned state tournament separate from the boys.

The FHSAA also approved a six quarter rule, an adjustment that will afford football programs more flexibility in how they can structure their rosters.

Previously, the rule allowed just one game per week to be played. Now, athletes can play six quarters a week.
