TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Fall sports teams in the state of Florida found out less than two weeks ago when they'd be able to have a season.

It's a sigh of relief for the Florida High girl's golf team. Two years ago they made State, last year they qualified for Regionals, and they're excited about the season ahead.

"We didn't expect to come out here at all, but now we're here," said Cannon Ramseym, a Florida High freshman.

"It's very nice, especially because it's my last year and this is my favorite sport," said Olivia Dean, a senior at Florida High. "I was really looking forward to it."

For the Florida High girls golf team, it's game on, for now.

"The first practice they came out to, they were excited to see each other and glad to be back," said Cory Cloud, the head coach of the Florida High girls golf team.

The Florida High School Athletic Association granted fall sports teams permission to practice this week although things may be a little different.

"They're not going to exchange scorecards, they won't have direct contact with each other that way," Cloud said. "They won't pull flags, touch rakes, or anything like that."

They're just happy to be able to play.

"I really wanted it to happen," Dean said. "I'm glad it's happening."

"We're really good this year and last year we made it to Regionals, but this year we think we can make it to State," said Ramseym.

It's a chance at a season.

"I just appreciate being able to be out here with the girls and being able to coach them again," Cloud said. "I didn't realize how much I missed it!"

That's all they can ask for.

Cloud says he thinks the Seminoles have a chance at being better this year than they were last season. Their first match is on September 8.
