THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Playoffs are rolling on for high school basketball teams. The brookwood ladiesplay in the GISA AAA State Final Four on Friday, and it's their first appearance since 2008. They got here by downing last year's State Champ in the Elite Eight, so confidence is high, and if they do all the little things right, this group has a shot to play for a State Championship on Saturday.
"That was a goal we set the week after the season ended last year," said head coach Todd Webb. "The girls really committed themselves. They committed three days a week in the weightroom where we were really getting after it. Practice intensity bumped up a notch this year."
"I think we're all super excited and super energetic," added senior Holland Walker. "We all really want to win. We're definitely playing the best basketball we're playing all year which is a great time to do so. I think the confidence level is very high."
Brookwood faces John Milledge Academy Friday at 6:00. If they win, they play Saturday for the AAA State title against the winner of Bulloch Academy and Deerfield-Windsor.
