TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The last couple of years have been rough for Leon football, as they have just three wins in the last two years. Those teams were young, and now that youth is older. They're looking to turn things around in 2019, and the Lions are carrying over the energy from a great spring into fall camp.
So far, head coach Garrett Jahn is liking what he sees, and both offensively and defensively, the Lions loaded with returners. On defense, they return nine starters from last season. Their schedule is tough, but Jahn said this team is playing as one unit, and after that good spring, and a good summer, they're excited to see what they can do this fall.
"Coming off the spring and having some success in the spring jamboree was good for having some assurance for what I knew they were capable of and we saw it daily," said Jahn. "To go out there and sort of see it happen and have video on it, and say alright, this is what we can do and we're not even playing yet of how good we're capable of playing. Paxton (Tomaini) said it at our media day. He wants to bring back the Leon Standard. I think that's a good motto."
The Lions take on Maclay at Gene Cox Stadium on Thursday, August 15th.
