BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - The Bainbridge Bearcats reached the pinnacle of 5A football in Georgia last year -- State Champions. That team was young, and that means there's more big expectations in Decatur County. That young team overcame a 2 and 4 start to win that State title. They were led by then sophomore quarterback Quayde Hawkins. He's back, and leading rusher Caleb McDowell is back to run the ball.
Their biggest losses come on the line. Three three year starters are gone on the offensive line. GHead coach Jeff Littleton is confident though. This is a group that's worked hard this summer to have that same feeling come December.
"We look to reload and live up to the expectation," he said. "The standard is there and we expect good things from these guys. These guys are hungry and they're ready to make their own mark. They know last year is last year and they're ready to move on and to do really good things."
Bainbridge takes on Lowndes High School in their preseason match-up on August the 16th.
