VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Lowndes Vikings take the field for the first time on Friday, and this is a team that's looking to pick up where they left off. The Vikings. made the AAAAAAA State Final Four last season, falling to eventual State Champion Milton. A State title is what this team is after, as they haven't won one since 2007.
There are a lot of guys from last year's team back this year, but they'll have to replace running back Travis Tisdale, and will look to dual threat quarterback Jacurri Brown and Gary Osby to carry the load.
They have a gauntlet of a schedule, but one that'll only prepare them for where they want to be.
"Expectations are really high here as usual," said head coach Randy McPherson. "Last year we lost a couple games we probably shouldn't have. The expectation here is to win every game. We didn't do that last year, and that's what we want to do. We like to talk about the Region title first, I think the Region Champ has an advantage in the playoffs. We want to win the Region and then win the next five!"
Lowndes travels to Bainbrdige for preseason action on Friday, August 16th.
