PELHAM, Ga. (WTXL) — There is no better feeling than grabbing a win in the season opener.
The Pelham Hornets not only won their season opener, but it was also a win over their rivals in Mitchell County. It's the perfect time to talk Hornet football for our Friday Night overtime camp chat.
The two rivals were our Game of the Week last week.
There was a lot that went into Pelham's 24-18 win over the Eagles. The game was pushed back from Friday night to Saturday due to irrigation issues on Pelham's field.
The game was originally supposed to be played in Pelham, then in Camilla. Then the field dried in time to be played in Pelham.
Making adjustments on the fly is something Hornets head coach Dondrial Pinkins said this offseason has been about.
"They've been very receptive of everything we've thrown at them with the changes week by week," said Pinkins. "We've had to come in and change the way we practice and the way we did things but our kids have done a very great job of making those adjustments."
Pelham travels to Early County for week two.
