TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - High school girls basketball teams kicked off week two of practice on Monday, and for Florida High, it's Lakeland or bust.
The Seminoles. fell short of a repeat trip to the Final Four after settling for second in 2016. The Noles lost five seniors off last year's squad, but return four of their best players.
Head coach Daryl Marshall says last year's Elite Eight loss has been the motivation all year long.
"That stuck with us all off season, that loss there," he said, referring to their Elite Eight loss. "We know that was a game we let slip by, but once again, we couldn't point fingers at anyone but to ourselves. During the summer, some of the girls were on the Nike circuit for AAU getting better, we had girls here all off season just getting better in the gym to get back and compete for a State Championship."
Florida High kicks off the regular season November 20th when they host Booker T. Washington.
