HAVANA, Fla. (WTXL) - For high school girls basketball teams, the road to state is underway. This week, district competition tipped off across the state of Florida, and in Class 4A District 2, Semifinal action hit the court at East Gadsden High School.
The first Semifinal of the night featured the two and three seeds in the district as Marianna and Florida High squared off. Florida High led with less then five minutes, but thanks to some free throws and a couple buckets, Marianna held on to win 54-53.
With the loss, Florida High is eliminated from the postseason, while Marianna will face East Gadsden Friday for the District title. The Lady Jaguars defeated Taylor County 75-21 to punch their ticket to the Championship game.
