GEORGIA, (WTXL) - South Georgia Medical Center is using the month of September to bring awareness to a potentially life threatening complication of an infection; Sepsis.
Sepsis is the presence of harmful bacteria and their toxins in tissue typically through infection of a wound. It affects 18 million people worldwide each year and is one of the ten leading causes of death worldwide.
The South Georgia Medical Center is using the national campaign to bring awareness to our area through their, "Know Sepsis" program.
