HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Delmon Williams connected with Quinton Lee late in the fourth quarter to lift Hampton to a 31-27 win over Florida A&M on Saturday.
The touchdown, with 5:46 left, capped a 47-yard drive that put Hampton (5-2, 4-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) back on top for good after Florida A&M rallied from an 18-point deficit to take its first lead of the game about two minutes earlier. Hampton sealed the win with a key stop on their own 14 as Florida A&M drove 55 yards but couldn't convert, giving up the ball on downs with 33 seconds left.
Williams, who also had touchdown throws to Damon Woodcock and Aulden Knight, finished 11 of 16 for 140 yards. Shai McKenzie had 147 yards rushing on 19 carries, including a touchdown. Adam Brown had a 24-yard field goal.
Florida A&M (2-6, 1-4) scored 10 unanswered points to open the second half, cutting the gap to 21-20 with 14:55 left in the game, and stayed close the rest of the way.
Ryan Stanley was 13 of 19 for 220 yards passing with three touchdowns for the Rattlers, and Ricky Henrilus ran for 109 yards on 10 carries.
