JACKSON, Miss. - Florida A&M mounted a fourth quarter comeback and looked to be poised to win the season opener over Jackson State. But the Rattlers hearts were broken as DeSean McKenzie hauled in the winning touchdown in the final seconds to lift JSU to a 22-17 win.
The Rattlers had taken the lead with just 46 seconds to go on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Damien Fleming to Gerald Hearns. Then on the games final play LaMontiez Ivy connected with McKenzie on a 60 yard touchdown.
The Rattlers fall to 0-1 on the season and will travel to take on the Miami Hurricanes next Saturday.
