VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Earning one conference player of the week honor is a sign of a good Saturday.

But two such honors? In the same week? That's just special.

Valdosta State quarterback and punter Jake Medlock is the Gulf South Conferences Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, after leading the No. 23 Blazers to a 22-17 win over No. 12 Winston-Salem State.

On offense, Medlock went 16-of-27 passing for 162 yards, while racking up 76 yards on 14 carries with one touchdown. The junior also punted seven times, averaging 47.9 yards per kick. One of those punts traveled a school-record 75 yards.

The Blazers return home to Bazemore-Hyder Stadium Saturday, September 20 for a 7:00 p.m. game against Gulf South rivals, Delta State.
